Put My Blush Down, Flip It and Reverse It: How to Make a (Reversible) DIY Makeup Organizer
I made this piddling guy back in Jan, when I was yet trying to go organized for the new year's day (which you may retrieve seeing on Snapchat). But there were so many projects to share, I'k only now getting around to posting. Whoops!
Luckily, organization is a year circular battle for nearly of united states, correct? So, I'm hoping this reversible makeup organizer will be correct up your alley. I experience like I am literally at Sephora every single weekend picking up new makeup brushes, lipgloss, mascara, etc and my growing collection definitely needed a home base.
Here'due south what yous'll need to make your ain…
Materials:
- 1×4 wood
- saw (table, circular, or handsaw will all work – I like this little guy for minor projects)
- sandpaper
- wood glue
- clamp
- acrylic paint
- paint brush
- sealant
- drill and spade bits in multiple sizes (depending on the sizes of the holes you'd similar to create)
Instructions:
1. Start past measuring and cut 5 pieces of 1×iv to the same exact length. I found 8 inches long to be a proficient size. If you lot fabricated this 12 inches or longer, yous could have this cut for y'all at a home improvement shop (the shortest they'll commonly cut is 12 inches). Simply in case you don't have a saw at habitation.
two. Side by side, give each piece a light sanding (then wipe make clean) and stack the pieces on tiptop of each other to determine an order that works, where all of the pieces line upwards. Sometimes, if a board has warping, you will only be able to line information technology up 1 way, if at all, so that'south where testing this comes in handy.
three. Once the stacking order has been determined, pencil in the number on top of each piece of wood to remind yourself. Then, you're ready to paint the front sides of all 5 pieces of wood. To get a 'reversible' look, you'll just want to paint one side.
4. Look for the paint to dry and add contrasting patterns, if desired, with more than paint.
5. Once dry, make up one's mind the stacking order one time again and add a generous amount of forest mucilage in betwixt each piece of wood, like the photo.
half dozen. Make sure all of the boards are lined up, and so clamp them together. Depending on how long your organizer is, you may want two clamps (ane on each side). Wipe off any woods gum from the surface that has pushed through the joint of the woods pieces. Set bated for 24 hours.
7. Once the glue has had time to ready and dry, utilize a drill and various spade $.25 to create the holes in the top of the glue together cake. I went with 1 1/2 inch, ane inch, and three/iv inch spade bits for the holes I created – decided on those three dimensions and then I could fit unlike kinds of things in each hole.
eight. Once the holes have been completed, run sandpaper over whatsoever crude edges, until smooth. Add together your makeup brushes, lip glosses, etc. Done!
